How would a child-Nova fit with a team that includes the best of the best? Young Nova just would not fit on a team like this - it lessens the "greatness" of the team - unless he is on the young Avengers team.

Yeah. How long did that last? Actually it lasted too long but my point remains. A Kid Nova is not a good fit for a team of VETERANS like the Avengers. Sorry. Does not compute. Great point.

I'm extremely disagree with this article, I'm really not a fan of Hickman, but I find his Avengers very good, specially the 3rd (I disagree completly with the review of Mr Brewer)...lot of actions, lot of great moments, I really love the art...imo that way more clear that his boring works for the F4...
In the other hand, I find his works for New Avengers really boring. |

Is the new Captain Universe Monica Rambeau? I really couldn't tell from issue 3. She seemed very disoriented, and an odd choice to have been a recruitment option for however long Stark and Cap had been planning this big roster prior to events on Mars.

Was she recruited or did she just appear? And then she just talks the bad guys down? Seemed like a cop out. #4 wasn't much better. Expected a lot more. Seems like all they are doing is shipping the book twice per month, but instead of giving us twice the content, are splitting it in half and drawing everything out.

Just finished #7, and man I wish Hickman had been given Nova and GotG.
My only real beef is all the wasted pages in the book with nothing going on: Recap page (useless if I read the last issue 2 weeks ago), a big page of icons that make no sense, and another bog page with just the title and credits. All wasted potential to progress the story. |

I have been meaning to write what I am about to write. Several years ago, at least one of Marvel's editors stated that a number of creators were chomping at the bit to write cosmic stories or to use Nova. We are seeing a lot of cosmic stories, now, especially in the Avengers titles.
What I find interesting is, a lot of people have stated they did not read Annihilation and other cosmic titles because they do not "get" cosmic titles. But many of these same people are still reading these Avengers and Iron-man stories. Now I have heard a couple of fans mention they do not understand the Hickman/Opena Avengers title. But the purchase/or order numbers have not dropped. And if people do not care for Iron-man in space, that is because of his awful uniform, not the fact that he is in space. What this shows me, or reinforces to me, is fans who say they did not read Annihilation and other recent cosmic titles did not evade the titles because they did not care for cosmic stories. They evaded the titles because they did not have X-men or Avengers characters - the popular characters in Marvel. And that is sad, because Annihilation was fantastic! And it did not read like a "cosmic" title, it read like a big WAR epic. And it was far more understandable, or "get-able" than a lot of the reading fandom think. I like Hickman and his Avengers stuff, but in my opinion, Annihilation was actually an easier read. I do give big credit to Marvel and their creators for wanting to tell these types of stories (Infinity, anyone). But fans just aren't willing to give things a try unless their favorite characters are in them. |

Great point!
That's the way it's always been. It's why I don't buy any of the core titles anymore. There's no point. They'll always be around. I try to find the niches that might not be as well known and support them. Infinity "sounds" good. Having Thanos not written by Bendis sounds even better. But this is the same guy that wrote "Fear Itself" as a mega-event. Yeah. That didn't turn out so well. In fact, it was pretty damn stupid and a colossal waste of people's money. But hey...another cosmic story. Going to see if it's worth the price of admission. personal note: No Quasar or Surfer in this type of story seems a bit off. In fact, it seems a lot off. No SpaceKnights. Just what's been on the surface: Inhumans, Shi'Ar, and NuCosmic. Here's hoping.......

No involvement of Spaceknights, Wendell, or Norrin? I may still check out Infinity but a big cosmic story just would not be the same without them. Even if Jim Cheung is drawing it.
I didn't even bother with "Fear Itself" as I was too busy with DC's "Blackest Night" epic, lol. Yes, 40 and Dave did have a great point about the mainstream heroes always being there and they are afterall thier big bread moneymakers. I feel the same way about buying the core titles. Expains why my current comic book collection is very small, almost spartan, compared to what it was 5-7 yrs ago. i.e. it turned me off when Marvel started to mirror the X-Men Movieverse into thier X-Men books. Recently it was when they just had to involve the Sam Jackson Nick Fury into Marvel 616. I like Agent Caulson in the films but was not neccessary in 616, imho. Sam Jackson-Nick Fury was okay in the Ultimate Universe fare and should've stayed there. Spider-Man has his own probs since "One More Day". Captain America's new Marve Now! uniform is the only Marvel Cinematic U-inspired thing I like about this whole "please the general masses" agenda. I know "Spidey-Sam" is going to be involved in Infinity and he could end up becoming a full-fledged Avenger around that time which sucks because Rich should have been offered membership years ago. Stark offering Rich to help out in Civil War kinda counts since it showed there was some respect for Rich. But its been mentioned that the basis of NINO being offered was supposedly because of the legacy of Rich. This hasn't been mentioned in the comics yet and it may be addressed soon. Or, it better. It was nice Steve Rogers had Rich be a member of his Secret Avengers but Rich's involvement still felt rushed and not genuine since it wasn't as an Avenger in an official capacity. |

I think you'll find that Matt Fraction wrote "Fear Itself." At the time, Jonathan Hickman was busy with Fantastic Four, FF and SHIELD.

Actually, it just came out that Dan Slott might be on a new Surfer book. Not confirmed, yet, though. They are having a live chat with Axel Alonso tomorrow at 2pm about Infinity. We can ask then. Quasar should definitely be involved, but then again, it already said Daredevil vs cosmic, so my interest is dropping, lol.

People spending most of their money on Avengers and X-Books is why that's about all we have anymore are Avengers and X-Books. Marvel doesn't want to take a chance on much else anymore. Which is the opposite of how things were back when i started reading comics. I liked those lower-tiered books like Moon Knight (except recently when Bendis ruined the character), Darkhawk, Marvel Two-In-One, Marvel Premiere, Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Quasar, etc.

at 2:29pm Tom Brevport mentions "...maybe spaceknights"
So we get to see a bit of them. Trying to log in on this livechat but my PC is slow....waited full 7 min. and still not logged into usinng FB or Twitter... but so far its mainly Avengers and X-Men have to be involved in everything. They keep emphasising "Marvel Universe" and nothing is seperate. Which is why they are giving us the impression that DnA's Cosmic Marvel work felt "seperate", "apart" from the regular MU. So by that logic: when they start doing the Star Wars comics I can expect interaction between the Avengers and the Rebel Alliance? LOL
